Our History

MOTOMAN began its European operation in 1976 as a manufacturer and supplier of welding machinery, primarily to the automotive industry, and became part of Yaskawa Electric Corporation in the mid 1990s.

Our history is a history of innovation

MOTOMAN has led robotics development from the start. Examples of MOTOMAN innovations include; the world’s first robot controller (MRC) capable of synchronized control of two robots in 1994, optimised robots for painting, palletising, arc and spot welding and the NX100 controller allowing synchronized control of four robots (up to 36 axes in total) in 2004, and the 7-axis single-arm,  IA20 and the 13-axis dual-arm DA20 robots in 2006, both with a new revolutionary robot arm concept resulting in extraordinary freedom of movement.

More recently in 2007, MOTOMAN launched the SSA2000, the world’s fastest arc welding robot. In 2008, improved slim versions, the 7-axis SIA20 and the 15-axis SDA10, of the single and dual-arm robots were introduced.

Over a period of 30 years, MOTOMAN has established it self on the European market as one of the major robotics companies. This offers large companies assurance in terms of both resources and expertise, as well as provides smaller companies with security and access to a unique range of products and services. As always, all customers matter to us – however big or small.

Within thirty years, Motoman has grown from a small company into a global player. This offers large companies assurance in terms of both resources and expertise, as well as provides smaller companies with security and access to a unique range of products. As always, all customers matter to us – however big or small.
